Homework Helper Grants for 750 School Districts Nationally
Mission: To improve
the math skills of 7-12th graders nationally
Eligibility: Public
School Districts with 35% or more students on Free/Reduced Cost
Lunch; Those with F/R Lunch under 35% can apply, but have to pay
$70/student
Award: 750 School
District applicants on a first-come, first-served basis as the
main criteria. DCPS (Washington D.C) School District is the first
one to apply.
Deadline: January 31, 2012
Program: Assists
the student instantly online 24/7 with specific problems in his/her
math textbook, by providing step by step guidance to questions
from your District’s math textbooks and supporting video instruction.
Rationale: U.S.
is ranked 48th in math and slipping every year. The problem is
compounded by the serious fiscal situation threatening many school
districts, the prospect of large-scale teacher layoffs and subsequent
curtailment of critical homework assistance. The goal of this
grant program is to alleviate the situation.
