Tips for Getting Started
Whether you're brand new to cybersecurity or returning to continue your learning, these tips will help you make the most of your time:
- Start with one course at a time. It's tempting to sign up for everything, but you'll retain more by focusing on a single course and completing it before moving on.
- Set a regular schedule. Even 20-30 minutes a day adds up quickly. Most courses are self-paced, so you can learn whenever it fits your routine.
- Take notes and apply what you learn. After each lesson, try to apply one new practice — enable 2FA on an account, check a link before clicking, or update a password. Real-world application reinforces learning.
- Don't worry about certification right away. If you're learning for personal safety rather than a career change, the free audit tracks on Coursera and edX provide the same knowledge without the pressure of exams.
- Bookmark this page. Use it as your home base to quickly access all your learning platforms in one place.
